I always long to take a closer look at creation. God has hidden his story there. And when I stop to take a look, He always beckons me further and I come back with handfuls of color, with my eyes wide open, and my mouth gaping.

About a month ago, 5 painted lady caterpillars were delivered to my door. They sat in a jar on top of my audio cabinet and I watched them grow little by little each day. They began as little crawling grubs void of wings and color. One day I came home and they had tucked themselves away into their chrysalis; this beautiful, green iridescent shell that conceals their secrets. I wished so much I had a way to x-ray that shell so that I could know what was taking place.

In there they dissipated into liquid and from nothing they were formed in secret. Then one day they twisted and turn their way to the surface and emerged with wings and a new name.

There is still healing for me and I want it quick and easy. But as I watched the miracle of metamorphosis, I realized that the process is beautiful and God will take His time to make things just right.

One night when I was falling asleep I saw an image of a handkerchief that intricately folded. I saw it being delicately unfolded. God spoke to my heart and said, “I will unfold you.” So long I have tried to wrestle my way to wholeness. But God will take His time to make things just right. He will be gentle and unfold all that needs to be undone. He will form me in the secret places and I will emerge with wings and a new name.
